A little family history

Our way, since day one.

Frankie, Marion and Alex

TRADE was founded on Commercial Street, Commercial Street, in 2014 by Frankie and Marion Boltman and their son-in-law, Alex Stone.

Food and hospitality run deep in the family. Before TRADE, Marion and Frankie built French Franks and Thanks for Franks. Bakers, cooks and restaurateurs: it is what we do.

Our early days meant smoking meat in the back garden, baking cakes in the basement and serving customers in between. That hands-on spirit still shapes everything we make.

We set out to build the world’s best local café. Great coffee, proper food and a warm welcome. That’s still the ambition.
